Hill Climber

257bhp from a K Series?!

Last year Italian race team PB Racing took part in the European Tour Car Series with an Elise. This year they're going hill climbing in an Exige.

The 'Exige NGt' has been rebuilt from the ground up to include a 257 bhp (!) version of the K Series. That power's available at a heady 8400rpm and is transmitted via a six speed 'box.

PB Racing's owner Stefano d'Aste will race the car as well as pedalling a BMW 320i in the Touring Cars.

Peter Carmichael has been getting this kind of power from an 1800cc K series for at least 3 years. In a car (Caterham) almost half the weight of an Elise what the heck are these guys bragging about?

They're not bragging.

I just thought it an interesting bit of news

I'm not claiming any sort of first for it - just thought it was a lot of power.

Anyway its easier to get big power out of a caterham as you don't have to compromise on exhaust manifolds lengths & etc.

I dont think its bragging either i think its very nice they can tune the engine so much. Its just good news they race elises with 257 hp!
I thought the record for the most powerfull elise with k-series engine was 250bhp by Dave Andrews.
