Hi all,

I've noticed there's something resembling a mini dipstick on the left of the K engine just by the clutch slave cylinder... this "dipstick" is leaking oil... any ideas? Elise is 2003 standard.

Thanks.

Bit more info... it's the black stick on top of the gearbox that's seeping oil

The "Black stick". Is the breather for the gearbox, If the gearbox is overfilled then it will leak out. As your's is.
The correct level is obtained via the n/s/r side of the gearbox just behind the driveshaft. There you will find a 17mm headed plug, The correct level is when there is gearbox oil slightly dripping out of this hole when the vehicle is LEVEL.

I've been assured by my mechanic that the gearbox oil level is correct. However it still leaks oil through the breather pipe. Any ideas? Would using the wrong oil have this effect?
