Only road use? The whole reason you would want to hire one is to probably take it out on the track. Oh well, prices are good

Yeah caterham owners are clearly nuts. I went with a big group of Elises last year, but there was one caterham there. You could spot him because he was in one of those tents thats barely bigger than a sleeping bag! I was cramped enough in a 3 man (dwarf) one.

Ah well, this year I'm staying in a chateau 10 mins drive from the track. I hate camping!

Think you have to pay like 10p for every mile you do after your limit! Might not be 10p but it works like that on some of the hire firms I've seen.

You guys think they'll let foreigners hire them out?

It would probably be my only chance to drive an Elise, apart from a quicky ride in a dealer showcar.

I assume you would pay the unlimited price if you return the car and and have done more than 200 miles. They probably take a deposit so it would come out of that. What's so stupid about it?

i guess that if you book a test-drive (over a weekend) you can pick the car up on a friday and drop it off on the monday (leaving your car there) without paying anything or limited miles.

the elise is such a track-specific car (especially the 135r) and limiting it to road seems a bit daft.

also, as i said, what if i phoned and said "ive hit my limit so come pick it up" ?

also what if you suffered head gasket failure over the weekend?

other variables aswell:

say you pull out of the dealer and get trapped behind a gritter. its your first time in a liz so before you have chance to pull back, you've got 4.7million stonechips.

when you take it back, they'll charge you for it, but it was hardly my fault was it? good for customer relations?

instead of this, they should have organised a track-day (the 135r being track-orientated, and being on the track is more likely to get a sale) and got interested people to pay money to do that. you like it, you buy it.

much better

Errm they do trackdays too - just not sure I would want to associate my self with them again and certainly would never buy off them.

And be assured they would love to charge you by the stone chip!

I hired a Liz before buying mine (not with Chris Neils) mainly cause I wanted more time than the usual 20 min test drive & didn't want salesman sitting next to me £99 for 24 hours but only 125 miles....Worked had my Liz over 3 years

Do you think that will cover insurance as well or will that be extra and you'll have to leave a hefty deposit as well? Was looking into hiring something flashy for my bro's wedding...

i reckon you'd need to leave a deposit, but i would think it covers insurance.

only one way to find out
