Should I?

Basically got my local dealer to sort out the softtop when i acquired 111R as its fit was terrible.

But in doing so the hardtop now back on and it leaks when i drive in the rain and this morning the liner of the hardtop was soaked after a hard night of rain frown (wasn’t like this when I bought the car when they had solely adjusted it for use with the hardtop)

So should i go back and ask them to adjust it back again?

Even with the soft top on for the 2 weeks i had it on it let some water in... arhhhh

The after sales guys and tbh more the salesmen (who was great through the sale and always welcome to field questions) have imo been great and so far it hasn't cost me anything to rectify the niggles just the time and money of being without my only mode of transport.

So should i except that i will always have a tiny stream of water on the drivers side pillar and wet sills or do i go back and get them to change it (Or can i do it myself)

Really starting to see that one needs an enthusiasm when owning a Elise biggrin

Any suggestions welcome.

Merry Christmas All.

Basically its difficult (very) to get the windows aligned to work well with both hardtop and soft top.

also if you have the alloy mounts on the bulk head swap them for the plastic ones which allow the hard top to be clamped down better.

one or the other works well IMO - thats why my hardtop only lasted one winter...couldnt be arsed, it was easier just to have a proper fitting and leak proof soft top all year around

it wasnt designed with leaks, so a dealer should be able to provide you with a solution.....

Is it a Lotus hardtop or an aftermarket one? My aftermarket hardtop on my old VXT used to let water soak into the headlining in heavy rain - it didn't fit exactly because each car is slightly different in length between the windscreen rail and the rear rollbar...

Thanks guys

Its an official lotus roof.

But i've been told that i shouldn't expect to have the best of both worlds.... (probably not that wording but that was the message from service team.

It's got metal clamps so that ok but will go back and see.... lol

Anyway the most important thing is that i just did 470 miles in it without fault and i'm not worried about the journey back up in the new year.

If the headlining is wet then it's not leaking, more than likely you're suffering from condensation.

I wouldnt be happy with leaks when using a hardtop but slight leaks are to be expected on soft tops - and have happened on every soft top I have had.

No it should not leak. My has never leaked a drop with either the hardtop or the softtop on.

That's assuming that you have an MY04 onwards car. Earlier cars are quite hard to stop leaking around the tops of the window seals.

Mine is a 2008 SC - it is bone dry even in heavy downpours with both the soft top and hard top.

How old is it?

If the liner is wet the roof may simply need re-proofing.

Just get the waterproofing spray from camping shops.
