Strange how Evo gave it such a lukewarm review when it came out.

That was before the Editorial Director bought one, though. wink

Why would I vote for a car I have never driven?

They did a series of reports on it in one issue including two where both Meaden and Metcalf were not that enthuastic.

I remember loving it when it came out. Bit dissapointed by the engine and the weight.

Funny that most magazines can rate cars that haven't even been built.

I remember seeing the brand new one in Bell & Colvill's showroom when I bought my first S1 Elise. I didn't know much about Lotus at all back then - I'd previously had an Elan M100 and loved the drive but got frustrated with the leaking roof, so was looking at Elises with hard tops (how little I knew! All about the seals, which didn't get any better with the Elise)...

Anyway the price tag was well out of reach and I didn't have a garage, a car with no roof would have been utterly pointless but I remember looking at that 340R and thinking 'wow' - it was a real little-boy moment.

They still look bloody mental now.

Car of the decade? Well it *looks* cool. Far too many other problems for it to be perfect though. Check the labour cost to replace the battery (you need to remove ALL the bodywork, apparently). The K engine never performed to spec from the factory - all the Ks out there producing good power have ALL been rebuilt by experts.

Still wouldn't say no though smile

Great car, but it's no car of the decade.

Yes but I cannot see any other car that would be either so you may as well vote for a marque you like...........
