New to Elise ownership (a few years ago now) I heard an exhaust which sounded particularly good, and plucked up courage to ask the owner what he was running.

The answer? Standard oem with a rusted hole in it. smile

I have a 2bular cat back on mine (with decat). Sounds great. Not as loud as a friends Janspeed (also decat) which sometimes makes me wish mine was more raucous, but at least I know mine is trackday friendly (noise limit) which can be an issue.

There are loads of options; Larini and Lotus Sports exhaust to name a couple more. Check out youtube to sample the different notes.

If you're on a budget then just a de-cat pipe might get you what you want. Or check the classifieds on Seloc or your regional owners forum for second hand exhausts being sold.

The exhaust is just made up of a manifold, the catalytic converter (cat) and the silencer and the tail pipes. The cat has a flange at either end so is reasonably easy to change, the silencer and tail pipes usually come in one part from the flange after the cat. So a back box will normally be the complete exhaust from the 'cat back'.

I had a janspeed race back box, de-cat and hurricane induction kit, many years ago on a 111s and it sounded amazing, alhtough it would be far to loud for me know! I would speak to Cos at sportomotive in salisbury, they are really helpful and knowledgable on type of car/age.
