Yep, I'm still driving mine as it's my only car!

Tried not to think about the winter weather when I bought it Hardly had any ice here yet though. It snowed for about ten minutes last night and that was it! Hope it stays like this because it does worry me a bit

Im in Aberdeen and there is simply no chance of me even thinking of taking the Elise out.

I was told the A90 is blocked now with heavy drifting.

Nice

Easy.. Scrape off snow & ice, get in (freeze hand to gear knob), drive off?

Oh.. And add a set of winter/snow tyres on the car to that

Those help immensely in these conditions.

Exactly.. Only car, need to get to work.

Winter tyres
Very gentle right foot

I have no choice though..it's my only car...It's the one time of the year I 'm glad to live on the congested streets of london..at least most are gritted and I'm travelling pretty slowly to work

Fortunately a colleague lives in the same street as me so we lift share and my car is safely tucked up at home in the garage today.

I've driven it the snow before, and it's good fun but requires 110% concentration! Obviously the risk of something bad happening is a lot higher than usual so I will only take my car out in the snow if I have no choice.

Yip me too. It's good fun but as Booger says you need to concentrate. I'm more worried about someone ass-ending me though

I did Leeds (West Yorks) to Worcestershire, to Chorley (Lancs.) and back across to Leeds yesterday, a bit over 340 miles total I think, all top off.

How? Wear a flying jacket and turn on the heater!
Why? 'Cos it was actually a very nice day, yesterday - clear blue skies all the way! Turned nasty in the evening, though, and I wouldn't fancy the Elise right now 'cos the roads round me are sheet ice at the moment.

Ah well...men from the boys and all that!

Though when I was a young whippersnapper like you, I used to run a Westfield, then later a Caterham, as my only car, all year round (cue Monty Python sketch...I'm from Yorkshire too!). Tip for
Caterfield owners in bad weather: fit aeroscreens instead of the windscreen and wear a skid lid. Rain/snow gets blown round onto the inside face of a windscreen. Crash helmets are nice and warm, too.

Avoid the gritters - they don't half up your paintwork! And remember that the Elsie is very light, particularly at the front end. Skitey roads are therefore very bad news if you drive as though you are in a FWD hatchback with ABS.

Just driven home from work in the Elise and it wasn't as bad as I thought. In the carpark it was sliding all over the place but most of the busy roads are fine When I was parking it felt like I had power steering it was so light...makes me wish I'd kept the Megane

Drove the Liz back from work last night and it was bloody awful, sheet black ice and rear tyres that are a little less than legal made for a few , no make that an hour and a half long, hairy moment Great fun though

Also, whenever you feel that someone is getting too close to you, kick the back out and they soon back off thinking you are about to bin it

All in all .

Same technique makes three point turns easy too!
