....has struck at 64k miles, losing lots of coolant and a bit of mayo under filler cap although no other signs, heater still working fine and engine seems to be performing ok. Bit of a shame cos it had always been warmed up gently but I guess its one of those things, hopefully won't be too damaging to the bankbalance....

Dropped off at Topgear Wolverhampton on Saturday, the guys were helpful enough to give me a lift to the station and have emailed me to say that its now without head and is underway, picking up at the weekend.

nah, not this time, i narrowly got out of a v6 alfa without being ruined, the chimaera has been frustratingly reliable (i seem to have bought a good one), so i'm going for another roll of the dice with a 996 3.6 carrera... i hear they have a habit of blowing their engines @ £12k a pop... wooohooo! stupidity rules once more!

My dad blew up his 996 last year, cylinder liners, think engine was about £12.5 basic some other stuff took it to about £14 all in but he's well chuffed with it now. Not expecting elise to be less than £500 but hopefully not much more. It's pretty cheap compared to my old chim, esecially when the dreaded outrigger rot set in....,

my outriggers were in surprisingly good shape when we put the car up on the ramps to have a look... everything was solid and no real rust... i'm now severely regretting put the car up for only £6,250... in hindsight, i reckon i could have got at least another £1k.

oh well... the new owner (well he hasn't taken delivery yet as i'm still waiting for the V5 to come back after the plate change) is a real enthusiast and a bloody nice chap to boot, so i can't think of a better person to sell the car to.

....picked her up this morning, washed and sparkling next to a line of TVRs, feels super smooth and fit, sounds a bit better than she did when she went in as well. £590 inc VAT all in inc new oil and a fresh set of leads, quite pleased with that.
