Hi Europa owners

my Europa has been sounding decidedly fluffy for the last couple of months. Had it into the garage and it turns out that the Miltek gasket had blown completely out. This has been replaced and the engine is pulling much better now. They also found a couple of bolts missing from the heat shield. These were put back in and now believe it or not there are absolutely no rattles from the heat shield around the turbo which is very nice as it had been driving me mad.

However I am still getting the mil light coming on. I was getting errors for both lambda sensors, pre and post cat. I have fitted the mil light eliminator and no longer get an error thrown up for the rear lambda sensor but still get one for the front sensor. Is this normal for all you Miltek owners or is there something wrong with the lambda sensor?

cheers

Hi There,

I have had my Miltek on since new and have done 19000 miles.
The MIL light has been on about 5 times. The code I have been told for mine is low cat efficeincy. The overfueling is not good for the cat.

Hi Lisa

thanks for the feedback. I think I must have a problem with my forwards lambda sensor as this keeps triggering all the time. The rear lambda snesor problem you quote can be sorted with a MIL light eliminator.

cheers

Hi C43,

Where can I get the MIL eliminator and is it easy to fit?

Thanks, I may not have helped with your problem but it looks like you may have helped with mine!smile

Hi LL

there are two sorts you can get, a mechanical one which is a bit of pipe to move the lambda sensor out which does not fit a Europa and a electonic one which is sold by Elise parts or Elise shop, can't remember which. Anythere there are quite a lot on the net. It consists of two wires with a resistor and capacitor half way along. You cut two of the four wires on the rear lambda sensor and splice in the new wires. It took me about 2 hours to doa as the lambda sensor connector is a bit fiddle to get to and I could not work out how the clip worked! I had the car on rear ramps but if you had a lift it would be much easier.

Any news on a meet up at Hofmanns? I have been speaking to one of the other owners and he is talking about a major upgrade with Chris which will be interesting.

Thanks for the info, I will look into this.

Yeah I'm keeping an eye on things, eagerly awaiting information on the ECU upgrade, seems to have gone a bit quiet.

Peter (Pierre LP) has just started a thread on Seloc regarding a Europa run. He has contacted Chris regarding a trip to Hoffmans but has had no reply.
