VR6 engined Elsie
Discussion
Anyone know anything about this car?

I've often wondered if the VR6 lump would fit and it would seem that the answer is yes, albeit at the expense of the boot. I'd be interested to know what it's done to the weight and handling.

I'd love an Exige / Elise with more than 4 cylinders for the sound... but that picture makes it look like the block is canted over so the head's in the boot! I can't think of a worse weight distribution... all that weight up high and far back would make it interesting in the wrong way to drive...
Am I correct in thinking that this conversion - £12.5k for 300bhp V6 - is only really viable if you have a relatively low bhp car (under 200bhp say). Otherwise, if you have say a 240 bhp Exige S, wouldn't you go for something like the 300bhp conversion from Hanger 111 for £5k ?
Thanks
Thanks

That was my thinking. I'd put up with slightly degraded handling for the noise, but I suspect the difference might be more than "slight".
that's the thing, sounds good but that's not gonna make you feel better when your arse swings in front out you as you hurl towards the armco!

never understood this quest for more cylinders, I couldnt really give a toss about the rumble it makes.
more power i can understand from a devils advocate point of view.
and more power is best obtained by charging.
well a lot of petrolheads gain as much pleasure from the sound of a great-sounding engine as they do from raw speed... After all, away from the track, all you can really enjoy is the noise in a lot of cases.more power i can understand from a devils advocate point of view.

And inline fours tend to make crap noises IMO, though there are exceptions and I'm sure to get jumped on now

A lot, i'd say the vast majority, otherwise all these multi-cylinder performance cars would be using 4 pot buzz box's
4 pots are chosen on economy grounds, no shame in it, but thats the honest truth, there not as pleasing as straight/V6's or any other multi-cylindered engine, which are far more charismatic forms or locomotive power, i have a 4 pot myself, and it's nice but deep down i can't help but wish the cylinder count was any number between 6 and 12
