The wipers on my car are, frankly, not all that good and I was wanting to do something about it.

I'm sure I read somewhere that putting the S2 wiper arm and blade improves things considerably, is that right? Any idea on the cost?

Cheers!

Cant say much for the wiper on the S2 - sort of pushes the water around rather than wipe it off.

Have a look at the elise parts website - I got my new blade from them and I suspect they do the S2 arm as well.

He's got plenty of energy, granted.

But don't call him Bonce unless you want me to pound you with my moderating stick.

Drag in light of your inclinations to Eskimos and being pounded by moderating sticks can I suggest you may find significant fulfilment on this site?

The same could be asked of you, DRAGstar. After all, for you to be quoting the site it is clear you spent a lot longer there than I did (i.e. not beyond the front page).

Hmmmm?

So anyway, back on topic, Cuzza, I was thinking of following this guide to making my crappy wiper better:

Cheers Bonce,

Nice to see the return of 'the voice of reason'

That mod looks fairly easy to do and should do the trick as I'm convince that the wiper isn't pressed hard enough against the screen. I'll take the wiper of this weekend and see how it looks.

BTW do you have a private plate on your car - H1***? Saw a silver/titanium S1 (it was dark) in Cambridge a few weeks ago. In fact I seem to have been sentenced to three months here

Let me know how you get on with the wiper mod, if it fixes your problem, I'll definitely do it!

Who said "Guinea Pig"?

My car is on a T plate and has a green roof so that wasn't me you saw. Cambridge ain't that bad is it? Why call it a 'sentence'? What work are you doing?

Back on topic...

Try Rainex on the screen.... @ 40mph or more water just disappears - no need for wipers!

Right, where's the Black & Decker? I'll take a good look at the bracket first as moving the holes will definitely weaken it.

webmistress, thanks for keeping us on the straight and narrow Rain-Ex is great and I use it on my daily drive, however I use my wiper more for cleaning the screen with the washers than driving in the rain - hence the need for somethng clean the screen better.

Cambridge - where to start? I used to live here (in town and then out to Histon) until 2 or so years ago and it has got much better in that time. My company is based in Cambridge and they moved me to Portsmouth two years ago. Now I'm back up here on a project and living in a hotel The work is building a web-based portal for browsing various engineering data sources

My wiper is a new "super-dooper" one from Sinclaires but it's actually worse than the tatty old one it replaced. It squeaks *horribly* and leaves a big patch (4" x 5") right in the centre of the screen completely unwiped. Maybe more tension is the solution.
