All,

The dark day has come when I'm going to have to get a eurobox to drive around in everyday as I will have to do a lot of miles and The Company is going to lease me an underpowered, 2 tonne, oil burning box of boredom. With the blessing (and in fact encouragement) of The Wife I am going to keep the liz and have it as a second car. Don't think it'll get much use but hopefully take it to a track or two and use it at weekends and stuff. Any advice about how to keep the love affair going when a new lady is more regularly used? I don't want to go to the extent of making it a track only mota to save a few hundred quid on insurance, but making it a bit cheaper would be useful.

Change your insurance to limited mileage, then do exactly what you do now, but just on weekends and nice weather days.

Don't be. You will get into the Elise and it will be 2x the event that it was before. You'll appreciate it's ability SO much more. Now, go and book some trackdays with all that money you'll save!

I too was presented with a diesel eurobox(its actually quite good fun to throw about!)by my company and now do 25k a year in it.
The Elise comes out every weekend rain or shine as i cant wait to go out in her,and i still manage about 10k a year doing that(along with a load of t/ds,runs and Euro trips including Spa and Stelvio recently).
Best advise would be to look on Seloc at your region and try and meet up with a few like minded people to enjoy the car with thumbup

I totally agree with all of the above. Let the boredomobile take the strain and you will appreciate the liz even more. Try Henderson Taylor for the insurance. Sign up with Lotus-On-Track.

Join Club Lotus and qualify for an agreed value, limited mileage future classic policy that required no NCB. Sorry, I want to say it...."simples"....

BE CAREFUL!!!!!

I speak from experience here.

My wife agreed to the elise as a second car.

She now drives the elise more than I do! She's playing you, just make sure you're aware!

As others have said, limited mileage insurance. Our's is limited to 4k PA.

As long as it's in a garage you'll find not using it as much won't do it any harm, certainly not like a TVR that prefers to be used.

good luck my friend.

I have an L200 as a daily drive, as said it makes driving the Elise that much more fun.

I'm out this afternoon, first time for 3 weeks, can't wait.
