I have, although not often. You have to drive really carefully, as the forces generated by direction changes on something as 'pointy' as the Elise are very bad for little heads and necks. If you've ever tried the ball in a bucket on the bonnet game you'll know what I mean.
Fit wise it's tricky, as the seats are too narrow for many seats. On the other hand, my son thinks a car with built in sky is lots of fun.

I have a rear facing one for up to 10kG which is belted in using the seatbelt. It sits very neatly in the seat without sliding about and is held in firmly with the seatbelt.
My daughter loves it cos she can see me and she gets a better view! (air bags restrict her to the back seat in the "big car")
