I had the same problems!!!! So I drove on one of the B roads quite fast!!! The combination of bumps and slight body roll popped the Boot up on the first bend.

reach under the rear wheel and pull the boot liner away from the bodywork.

Stick your hand in between and reach around for the cable. Pull it while someone else jiggles the boot.

should release it.

Similar thing happened to me about a week before I got rid of my S1 160 Sport. The cable broke somewhere around the vent behind the door. After becoming somewhat concerned due to the proximity of my roof and the boot (IT WAS INSIDE IT GODDAMNIT) and the odd glance to the ever darkening skies, I took Immediate Action.

If you gently get your fingers between the boot lid and the body, slowly and carefully move them round to the rear of the car providing a slight gap and lifting the lid. Just as you think you are getting close to the latch, pause. Sum up all your anger that the bloody thing has to go back to sodding Lotus again, the fact that you will be in the phone for days getting them to admit that it is a design fault that the cable can corrode and snap, then that's what you so. Snap! Give it a bloody good tug!

Hey presto boot open!

* I take no responsibility for any damage that may be caused by this technique. The value of your investment may go down as well as up and your sanity may be at risk when owning a Lotus.
