Elise parts shopping...suggestions pls?
Discussion
I have a basket open and am adding a couple of small things over at Eliseparts.
I currently have a pair of damper spring collars and a linkage set in my basket.
I have a 5yr old S2...are there other well accepted relatively inexpensive parts you would advise me to get now?
The car has a good battery (12 months old) but upon starting will sometimes seem to do nothing on first attempt, but then start up cleanly second time. This has happened when hot or cold. Would a new distributor cap help? Should I then get new plugs too?
C service coming up soon, so may be leave it to them?
Thanks.

You've probably already closed it off but I've recently ordered some anti-rattle door striker pins and an interior light delay along with the heater resistor pack that's recently given up the ghost. Neither will improve the performance or reliability of the car but both are cheap and will make the car a little easier to live with.

I can see the alternator heatshield there thanks. HAve others done it?
Yep. My alternator went, and after researching the subject it's a common fault. The alternator overheats due to proximity to the manifold. I wanted reliability so put the heat shield in when i changed the alternator. very easy to install.well worth the money to easily fix a weak spot.

what do these do (potentially stupid question I know....)? My doors don't noticably rattle, so not seeing what the point is. Are they good? Mine is and EDC so would be interested if they make the car easier to live with.
If there's no rattle then I wouldn't bother replacing the pins. If they don't rattle now then they're unlikely to in the future as the reason for them rattling in the first place is that some cars came out of the factory with pins of too small a diameter, hense the latch moving around the pin and making a racket over less than smooth surfaces - the 'anti rattle pins' are simply a little bit fatter so the latches fit around them more securely. My driver's side door rattles like a pill bottle so I'll be replacing the pin on that side (and the passengers side, just incase) when the parts arrive..... which was about 10mins ago!
Now I've got the job of replacing the resistor pack to look forward to in the next few days, could be a p in the a but rather face that than frostbite come winter as I love having the roof off whenever I can

Ho ho ho...(bit early for Christmas I know, buy hey) I have my basket open once again on another tab and would like to purchase the following:
Gear linkage set (no centralising action on mine, plus it is feeling rather agricultural)
Alternator protector (on advice thanks)
Damper spring collars (mine are flaking away)
How about a set of stainless brake hoses? My car is 'bog standard'. I'm told this would be a good simple upgrade...your thoughts on this please?
http://www.eliseparts.com/products.php?product=6
Should I be looking at a different brand/set? Indeed...do I need to change them?
A bit of guidance on this and I'll close it off tonight hopefully.
Thanks again.
