Well thats my trip to St Andrews with the visiting girlfriend ruined frown (or should that be mad)

Whilst i was leaving Edinburgh the driver side indicator headlight unit poped out!

Fortunately it hasn't done any body work damage but is this sort of thing a norm for things that go wrong from time to time on Elise S2?

It looks like the clip has just wasted away and there a crack in it so making the clip useless...

Will contact dealership tomorrow but from now till it gets fixed how will i keep the rain out? Any suggestions? Cant keep the unit it in? and rain / drizzle is usually the default weather in Edinburgh biggrin

Thanks in advance

Gaffa tape works well.

I used blue track successfully for several weeks but after a particularly bumpy section of road, it popped out again so reverted to tape.

Mine has translucent silicone from the DIY shop keeping it in place.
Seems fairly common.

Mine did this too. Popped out at over 100mph, hit the windscreen and bounced down the track. Managed to pick it up and surprisingly it was not broken, clipped it back together and used some masking tape around the edge to hold it in place. Gerald at GST in Newmarket fixed it whilst it was in for a service. Don't worry about it too much.

Mine flew out but remained tethered by the cable, scared the crap out of me though!!! Drilled a little hole in it and attached it onto the inside through the front wheelarch, been fine for 2 years everday use now so happy with it. Don't think there is anything in there that will mind a bit of rain for a while.

I had an indicator pop out on two different Lotus and simply used a soldering iron to melt the clip back into place. Worked a treat after that.

Will run it without for the morning drive into work but when parked up i'll replace it so its not sitting with water going in (if that helps) and phone dealer and let them help me.

Oh and also is it common if you rev the engine whilst stationary or nearly, to on occasion for the revs to dip below 1k to almost a stall? I don't mean revving it like a chav but a blip to get a pop before you come to a full stop (i'm childish i know).

Thanks guys

Happened to me on the a1. Had been at 50 thru some rabbash av speed scameras, and suddenly as I gave it beans in third away from a golf who was parked up my rear end BANG BANG BANG BANG. It banged away still attached to the bonnet umbilically. I stopped, shoved it back in place, and set off again. 60 mpg, BANG BANG BANG BANG. Had to crawl all the way to services and bought some sellotape to bodge it back. The clip had snapped.

Still not been able to get to f1 to replace it. (Blaming the weather....) Hope the water doesn't do much harm..... But most things are plastic, thus should be ok!

Managed to remove the black marks that I thought were scratches but were just rubber bang marks. Unfortunately, the distance I had to drive with the banging was enough to lose the seal.

I was told it was fairly common and the guys at Murray Lotus sorted without question which was great.

All i now need is someone local to edinburgh to help me fit HID's as my trip to work everyday is a nightmare in the dark!

Happened to me doing 70mph on dual carriageway about 2 years ago. I used superglue on the rubber at the top and bottom. Never had any problems since.
