Hi all

Got my new Elise yesterday! Its great as you start to get used to the car and start to push it a little. Even at the 3,000 rpm limit i am still having fun :-)

There were a couple of 'serious' things wrong with it however, like the speedo doesnt work! And the fuel cap lock comes away from the casing! Pretty shocking that they let the car out like that I thought.

Thanks for all the replies to my postings over the past months.

Now I am crapping myself someone is gonna bash it or steal it.... still I had to have one :-)

Congrats!

I've got to wait 18 months for mine.

I'm also surprised that they let it out like that... those sort of problems aren't going to sit too well with the american buying public.

New cars always have things wrong with them .Dont worry the problems can be fixed and the car must be under warranty

Interesting to read about the dodgy speedo. I bought mine a couple of months ago, a 2001/Y S2 ex-demo. The speedo unit on that had packed up just prior to me collectingt it and it required a new one. All on warranty of course. Also, the horn didn't work, the tyres were fitted incorrectly, the seat and window winders were loose and the alcantara trim was coming away from the door. All this has been fixed without a problem and all is now well, although they should never have let me pick the car up like that.

Its had a new ECU!!!, a new drivers side air intake (old one broke in two), a new lotus badge on the front (old one fell off) and my speedo sometimes wizzes round to 120mph.
Still love it bits thought

Lots Of Trouble Usually Serious?

Come on guys. Nothing so far sounds that bad. If you keep this up you'll get us TVR drivers sympathising!

Drove a Elise (1) today. Couldn't live with one but it really was great fun....envious...me?

Just noticed at the weekend that not only does the speedo read twice the speed I am actually doing, so does the mileage readout! ie for every one mile I do I clock up two!

I phoned the Lotus garage first thing the next morning and they reckon I need a complete new stack unit!
