Saw one at my Lotus Dealer when the Elise was in for service! Up at £19995 if I recall. Which is about the cheapest I've seen one on a franchised forecourt. Naturally it had virtually no miles, as with all 340Rs. Definately a good time to buy.

Anyone ever used one day to day?? Yes I am mad. Was going for an elise next, but after that I want something slightly more bizarre...

I think the residuals plummeted due to people realising how expensive they are to fix if you have a knock in one.

EVO had one briefly as a long termer. They had a slight prang which took off one of the wings by the front wheel and caused some other damage to the bodywork. The result was a £12k bill.

The problem is the body is one single piece so you have to have it all replaced. The body costs a hell of a lot and it takes a lot of labour time.

I think I also heard that you need to virtually remove the body to fit a new battery which will end up costing hundreds due to labour.

That said I would love one. Saw my first on the way to the Lotus show at Stoneleigh and it looked amazing. I dont think anything short of a Zonda or Enzo would turn as many heads as a 340R

I'm really really tempted by one as I only use the Liz on dry days when I'm in the mood so I'm not reading this any more - lalalalalalala - can't hear you!!

EVO also paid £12K because they took it into a main dealer (doh!).......It would have been less than half that at Sinclaires or Specialised Paintwork...if they werent paying £90 ph+ labour

but yes - they are not cheap to fix - clam is in one piece not 2 and takes around 5 hours to get remove...Sinclaires have 2 340Rs in being rebuilt at the moment post accidents.

awesome cars - bargain now....you can pick them up for £16-19K...when most were specced up new at £40K

I would love one of these, I have only seen one on the road about 3 years ago in Guildford.

Anyone got one they want to swap for an S1 111s?

maturing investments is what de familia is good at. the corleone's built on investments

take benzino for e.g. de kid's showin guts for wantin a 340r and willin to trade.

de familias investments include de mp for defence...hoon.

Because the plan was to rent my house out, buy a flat in Southsea, chill out on the beach and play with the maxxers along the seafront.

And you're weakening my resolve

chill out by the beach? how old are you?

do you remember when you were little? say 14-20 and you used to think "im never going to get old, atleast mentally" ????

WELL YOUR INSULTING THE CHILD INSIDE!

what would he think. your turning into your dad! the flat, seaside will still be there in 6 years, will an opportunity to buy your dream car? probably, but could you sit in your "precious" flat (on a rocking chair) for 6 long, baron years without wishing you bought your dream car? i dont think so

what if you die tomorrow? just buy it, and calm the child within. its NOT sensible but it'll put one hell of a smile on your face

remember, sensibility=old fogey-ness. do you want to be classed as an old-fogey?

NO course you don't. if i were you, id live every day as if my last, i.e. just buy it. if its what you want, why compromise? if you can afford it just be reckless for once!

if it all goes pearshaped you can just sell it, losing alittle money, but safe in the knowledge that you tried it!

NO REGRETS. if you dont, then ill be forced to call you grandpa Cuzz

you may continue to call me de Don

28 - you can tell you're still a student, wait til you're lawyer, you'll fancy a flat overlooking the sea within walking distance of the beach (ladies) with easy access to the best bars and clubs (ladies and booze) in the city.

The plan remains:

Chip in the Elise for a Noble when I've learnt to drive properly

But thanks for the advice, Dad

a noble is even better. but why not trade the elise in for a 340r in the meantime?

you could do a virtual swap!

..just a thought

Personally feel a Westfield calling over a 340

Local dealership had a 340 in for a while but 20k for something that was a bit tatty just did not appeal.

However was looking at a westfield that was pristine with hybusa bike engine for 10k

Then at a V8 for 13k ideal for scaring the horses; Why do they like my favorite roads to hack on?

Sorry think I have wanderd off post a bit - blaim my boss for giving me boring work
