Happy new year to you all

Unfortunatly over the festive season some idiot has bumped into my car and driven off. the damage is on the rear right corner. the damage isnt horrific but was enough to take the paint off in a 20cm ish cricle area and crumble the fiber glass a bit. I know my description is a bit vague but any idea of how much this will cost to fix. can the one area be fixed or will it require a whole new back bit. I'm reluctant to claim this on my insurence as I dont know who did it and so cant claim on the offending partys insurence and i only have 4 years NCB so cant protect mine yet. The insurence was rediculous before so if it goes up I'll have to sell the car.

Really sorry to hear that - it's very difficult to imagine exactly what the damage is, but a slightly smaller area of damage on my front bumper will cost about £300.

Even if you'd paying double that, it's probably not worth a claim. Just paid my renewal today at £1900 despite being a year older, wiser and my only conviction being over 5 years ago for the first time. I had 4 years until a claim last Jan, now I onlu have 2 and my premium went up by £400.

Cheers for the info. Well 300 squid isnt to bad. I had visions of having to have 1/2 the body work replaced and a bill of a couple k to deal with, I think the only way they would insure me was with about £700 exess anyway.
The most anoying part is that I think it happened at work and I didnt see it till a day later which means that someone I worked with knows they trashed my car and drove off. i have the security guy going through the tapes as we speak to see if he can see it happen.

Sorry to hear about your misfurtune beechy.....
and hello to everyone, as this is my first ever Gassing Station Post - first time I've had something relevent to say.....

recently span my lotus 160 ( still learning ), it was only at a low speed, but I scuffed the back ( and buckled 2 wheels on the curb ). I was amazed to hear about you insurance premium though.... mines much less for only 2years noclaims. I claimed on the insurance ( and got the suspension/geo checked too - it needed a little tuning according to the guy at Haydons )... but I still don't expect my premium to be that much....

have you tried www.elephant.co.uk - they've been good to me..

Besides - anyone want to buy 2 Sport 160 wheels ( silver ) they're rare as rocking horse S*&t......

cheers for the advice guys. I'll give the sinclare boys a call.

Tom
I tried Elephant and the web price was great but when I called up to buy it it went up by a grand. In the end the cheapest was Tesco which was around the 2k mark but only if I had a tracker fitted.

Thanks again guys

For organised runs there was a SELOC run to Hayling Island and the next is around the beginning of March apparently. Was thinking of a run down the A272 and back - nothing silly

Are you a member of Club Lotus? They meet once a month near Petersfield and have gatherings all over the area which is a great chance to meet other owners.

Not done a track day yet, but I'm planning to do a few this year after a 1stlotus training day to learn how to drive a bit better.

No I'm not a memeber of the Lotus Club....

but I hear what you are saying about taking up training with 1st Lotus driving school.... I have been toying with signing up for that.

But yeah - if you want a crack along the Petersfield Road, then when the sun comes out......

I knew there was at least one other around this neck of the woods!

The A272 is great until you meet a biker coming the other way round a left hander in full-on lean mode
