Hi - managed to scuff the corner of my front bumper on a raised manhole when visiting a friend in North Wales. The road is currently owned by the company developing the houses on his new estate, and has been in an unfinished state for several months. I'm therefore hoping they'll pay for the damage but...

Any ideas how much it's likely to cost? It's a small area about 1cm up and 10cm wide. I'll try to post a pic tomorrow.

S1 or S2...probably £250-300 ish....even for small amounts a bodyshop will charge for the min paint they can buy/mix say £70 then prep time + spray.

If its an S2 then another option is to fit Alvan splitters like what I have - they cover up the 'ears' on the front a treat and are £400 fitted and sprayed

It's an S2 (111s if that makes any difference) - had a look at your pics bogie - looks nice. I'm in the north at the moment but will probably try Sinclairs when I'm back in London.

I hope to get a photo online tonight

Out of interest, do they have any function apart from looks?

yeah - supposedly more downforce...especially combined with rear diffuser too. I never really noticed when I had them fitted, but I smashed the old ones up and drove without them for a month or 2 prior to new clam/splitters etc....I could really tell the difference in high speed sweeping bends

I've scraped the front lip of my Gunmetal S2 tonight, I'm not happy at all! I did it on a kerb after I'd been so careful since I've had it...up to now

Its about 1cm by 1cm big and annoying the hell out of me! Not enough for me to spend over £200 on though!

Its gone all the way down to the primer but do you think 'chips away' will be able to do a decent job on it for alot less money?! Not worth me having the whole front clam sprayed for an area so small, but I can't leave it!

Any help apprciated

James

James - just a thought but mine's gunmetal too - wonder if there's any way we could go halfs on the minimum amount of paint? - whereabouts are you based?

Chipsaway should have no problems with that. My points recently met with a pot hole and both have become somewhat blunter. Drivers side is worse but both are around 7cm long and have damaged fibreglass. My local chipsaway guy (Elise owner!) has quoted £120+VAT to fully repair. Should be a lot cheaper for you if it's just paint work.

Cheers,
Rob

I scraped my S2 also and took it to the dealer, the dealer noticed that the clamshell had microblisters on so warranty covered the repaint and I just had to pay 60 quid for the repair. Have a look for the tiny blisters.

Ouch! I always just think theres always someone worse off, makes me feel a whole lot better That manhole is really bad though, they should definitely at least pay something towards getting your car repaired. Any luck so far?

Fancy someone leaving there phone in the road

Yeah - luckily I managed to miss the phone, but hit the manhole instead. sinclairs are yet to reply to my e-mail for a quote despite one chase up call - I'd sort of forgotten about it now I'm back in London and not driving - until my friend who lives on that road sent me the pics today!
