Hi,

the following two options are costing roughly the same:
Elise S2 111S or basic S2 with Turbo Technics kit.

Any preferences and why?

Thanks

TT kit...completely different animal...transforms the car....only disadvantage is insurance (not that much more if you find the right insurer like Esteem or Frizzell) fuel economy is less (to be expected) and price of conversion (not an issue if you buy second hand)

If you want a better deal try ringing TT up - their demo S2 TT190 is for sale at the moment...X plate, 9K miles, Race Tech spec, Lotus sports suspension and Oz wheels/Yoko A048 (£3.5K package) ...basically an S2 thats had £11K spent on it...think they will even throw in a 12 month warranty too...oh and £21K

cheers

Thanks for the quick response. I'm in The Netherlands though, so it will be LHD for me.

I'm leaning towards basic S2 with TT indeed. Awaiting other responses.....

Actually, what I should add: I currently have a S1 111S. So option 3 is: don't change the car at all...
It's that I can get a fairly good deal at my Lotus dealer and the massively improved rear-end looks of the S2 over the S1 (I know, a bit late to bring up, given the fact the the S2 has been around for a while already).

Also: are we looking at a new model Elise or similar soon, otherwise I'm stuck with an 'old' new S2...

The new Elise is coming next year...but will be 900Kg ...personally Id get a 2nd hand newish S2 and supercharge it..then keep it for a long while...it will be the last of the 'lightweight' Elises

I wish I was in the position to buy it!

Does anyone want to buy my S1?

Thanks for the tip. Any news available on this Elise MKIII? Probably on this forum?

BTW, test drove the S2 111s today. Totally different car than S1 111s. More mature product, more accessible (for doing groceries ;-)), a lot less racy/raw. We were quite amazed that the stereo actually produces a bit of quality sound (not that it matters). I liked the cabin quality. Overall, I think the differences do not justify the 'money gap' of 100% the trade-in price (so asking price = 2X trade-in price and no, my S1 111s is not crap), which is basically what the bottom line came down to.

lots here www.elisetalk.com its the US Elise community...the next Elise is going to be very much like the Federal one...although we will still have the Rover K series engine in the lower end models
