just wondering what the owners views are on this
how quick are the S1 elise? also the later sport 160 varient.
reason i ask is because at a trackday at brunters earlier in the year i was having no trouble keeping with them in a straight line. froms speeds as low as 40mph upto 120mph
my car is a E30 bmw 325 sport (stripped out weight is 1060kg) power 186bhp & 179lb torque.

i must admit i was surprised at this i was blown away by an exige but then i expected that lol
before you all start blathering about cornering ect i was quicker there as well over taking loads of elise's but then i do know brunters well and i was driving quite hard (but not mental)
i know for a fact that my car is no way quicker than any spec elise on the corners and i put the difference in performance down to driver commitment but even a novice will boot it down the straights so this is fair race.
whats the book 1/4 mile times for elise and just how fast is a sport 160 model i am guessing it has 160bhp but thats the limit of my know how lol
cheers
duncan
ps sorry for the 100 questions

Most Elises are quick up to 60, but straight line performance will tail off quickly over 70-80mph. A std Elise will be left by a 200bhp hot hatch over 80mph. Book figures for cars are something like

std 0-60 5.8secs 0-100 18secs
S160 0-60 5.1secs 0-100 14secs

more likely it was down to the drivers - its amazing how quick a std Elise can be in the right hands...and how decent suspension/tyres and increased corner speeds can make up for differences in horsepower.

On the road in a straight line its very difficult to put any distance between a 120 and 160bhp car until over 80mph, and the same for a 160bhp car and a 220bhp one....e.g. a 180bhp Elise will get to 60 say in high 4's ...but will get to 100 in high 12's low 13's...so maybe 1 secs to 60 ..but 4 or 5 to a ton

ps - looking at your power to weight ratio, then it dosent surprise me that you kept up/left them in a straight line as you are pretty close to a 160bhp Elise...the cornering is just down to tyres/suspension/driver
