I wasn't aware of the Hurricane induction kit not fitting the 111s? The K&N 57i induction kit would provide the induction roar you are after and thump up your exhaust note. I have one going, if anyone wants to buy it off me. Whether or not it increases power though is debatable...

I have a 111s and looking to get a pipercross air filter for it. The problem is, I am lead to believe, with the standard K&N and the pipercross air filters are they will need to be blocked off from the engine as the hot air getting into the air filter means reduced performance as the air filter requres cool air.
The only air filters which block off the hot engine air, are well over £200.
I am going to block off the hot air with a custom made perspex sheet.

My thoughts on this are that it "depends". When you are standing still, heat from the engine will be sucked back into the engine, increasing the temperature and may cause it to 'pink'.
However, once you are on the move and air is passing through the engine bay, the engine will operate at a normal temp and you will notice a slight (very slight)increase in performance, especially at the top end. You also get a nice induction whoosh... which sounds good.

I have the ITG air box induction kit from PTP, this is a full induction kit as so no warm air can be drawn in + a trumpet shape intake to quote "recover air pressure from air velocity as to feed maximium cold consistant air flow to the engine" They also advertise independant tests results on their website www.ptp-ltd.co.uk under kits showing 8.6bhp gain and torque increased.
I like to see what Im getting for my money before parting with it, I know its not cheap but great. When I spoke to PTP they informed me Induction Technology Group (ITG) supply several F1 and F2 teams with induction systems and also has this in their catalogue. With all of this data displayed openly, and now knowing the background, I couldn't resist and glad I didn't.
If youv'e got the dosh GET IT, if you havn't K&N but not as good (Had one prevously to the ITG Kit)
