It appears to be this: http://www.evalbum.com/1454

Zytec did an electric S1 around the time it was launched, no idea if it ever escaped the factory though.

I bought some Elise parts off Ebay from a guy who said he was converting his S1 to electric.

Maybe it's his?

I thought this was a hoax at first... but all the figures appear to be there on the website. Looks like it was a very good spot.

I've cross posted it on Seloc, and nobody seems to have seen it before - I just can't believe the owner has managed to keep it so quiet! (Oh, dammit! That's another pun, isn't it?!)

Did you get in touch? The owner has replied to someone on Seloc...

Take a look if you can: http://forums.seloc.org/viewthread.php?tid=224530&...

I live near Zytek and many years ago the electric Elise was regularly seen around here with a standard Elise following it. It's in the motor museum at Gaydon now.

Dropped off a email to the address on the website yesturday but no word as yet.

Heard back from the owner yesturday.

Its his own project which was finished a few months ago and uses it everyday for a 30mile round trip to work.

"I read about the Tesla a couple of years ago and though "I want one of those" but the price was way too high so I decided to do some research and here it is..
Luckily, I am an industrial electrician by trade who has fiddled with cars and bikes for years (you need to have a good understanding of high voltages as the car runs on 320vDC).

It was a bit scary when ripping the engine and associated controls out of a perfectly good car as there was no way they were going back in again.

I also own an M3 but vastly prefer the Elise as it is much more fun to drive. It doesn't yet have high acelleration due to the LiFePO4 cells limiting current, but it is quick up to about 50mph which beats all cars away from the lights (no gears or clutch needed as I drive it in third) with a top speed at the moment of 80mph.
It actually acellerates linearly like an aircraft taking off.

The car is still under development though and my next addition will probably be a bank of super capacitors (supercaps), which will have no limit to current drain to give me the acelleration I am looking for".
