What's It Worth?

This isn't a blantant plug
No, not at all! I've advertised my car on Pistonheads, but before I upload the advert elsewhere, do you think I'm asking too much?
The advert is here: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1124696.htm
It's just had a full frontal respray to remove stonechips, a new alarm system and a whole bundle of work done in December 2008 - So I thought I'd ask for a bit more ... Although I have this feeling people are most likely having a look and laughing at the price.
What does the PH collective think would be a fair price?

I put mine up (but soon took it down again) at £9350 and had good interest.
Mileage is little less than yours however, it has had a recent full suspension reburb: bushes, all ball joints, TREs, pro steering rack refurb and uprated toe-links), Nitrons, close ratio box, a refurbed 111S interior, harness bar and harnesses and a nine (!!!) speaker ICE. All the other nice little bits and bobs too (can't remember them off the top of my head) including the desirable 340R delivery wheels and recent 888s. Given the relative costs of a suspension refresh and front clam respray I'd say you're pushing it a little. However, it does sound a nice car so might be worth seeing if anybody bites.

I have always followed the 'money-no-object' approach on upgrades and maintenance

21,000 miles between services doesn't really back up your first quote to me.C Service | 05/12/08 | 64956 miles | Steve Williams
The book says every 9,000 miles or 12 months whichever is sooner, plus it's now due another service by mileage. Are you having this done before it goes?
In the first 5 years of its life it did 15,000 miles and had 5 annual services, in the last 5 years it has done 60,000 miles and only had 3 services, that is not a money no object approach to maintenance
I would personally declutter the advert a bit, far too much info there that isn't needed.

Be prepared to take offers and you'll likely get 8-8.5k for it, which is probably about what it's worth vs. the competition. I wouldn't worry too much about the longer service length, as after that last big service you've ticked off most of the expensive bits which might need replacing for a while.
Fair comments
It's had plenty of oil changes within those periods, rather than waiting for the service intervals for the work to be done ... The engine has never missed a beat
Cheers for all the information though - I realise it's easy to overprice cars, knowing the amount you've spent over the years, which I guess account to not much in the end!

I sold my 1999 Std s1 3 months ago for £8.5k. It was in excellent condition and I was the sole owner from new and put 35,000 miles on it. It didn't have the suspension upgrade and the like that you have, just throttle body, quick shifter, sports exhaust and HIDs etc...and a refurbed interior.
You are probably not far off the money but it's probably the mileage that's putting people off... and yes I know a well looked after but regularly used Elise is a better bet, but does your target market? i.e. people with a sub £10k budget and perhaps limited experience with the marque looking for a weekend fun toy.

You can always come down and the acid test is "calls".......we've seen a few lately for less and with a few less miles but S1's are few and far between........it's always worth trying a week or so if you have the time to try and temp the "one man" who's looking for a silver S1 and isnt so worried about mileage.......if he doesnt ring within the first week or so my advise is to keeping trimming your price until the phone rings.......another good tip.....go £8990 if you go Autotrader......or other sites that default to price order.
Good luck.......and on the subject of selling or selling tips you can always ring Paul or Matt at George White Supercars.......love talking Lotus!!

To anyone hoping to buy one, that will be to expensive but to US Lotus enthusiasts that is about the right price. When selling my last one, had lots of interest until you say you want approx 9k! I was offered 6k by some nobed who didnt even look at the car & had just assumed a perfect example would sell for 6k. I did get 9k for mine so people will pay that for a good example.
