I'm from Rome and i'm ready to order my Elise but before that i want to know some things:

1) my dealer 3 days ago have only brochure from the 2003 versions, i know that for 2004 there are some news as new type, new optionals and new colors.
Can anyone send me a 2004 scanned brochure via jpeg/pdf version via E-mail to understand all about version to choose and the optional?

2) The dealer told me about the Toyota version and that it arrive in firsts months of 2004, he told me that some peoples have alredy order it without
knowing the specifications of this new version, here could someone tell me more about it? power? wheigt? price? optionals?

3) colors: i don't understand the differences between various types of yellow: lightning yellow and saffron yellow are the same? for 2004 wich type does Lotus use? or anothere one?

4) is possible to buy the 99T version again?
Thank you

Hi and welcome,

If your dealer doesn't have the 2004 brochure, then I doubt anyone else will yet. The options list is not exactly extensive anyway

I'm not sure the Toyota powered car will be available in Europe straight away and is only going to be in the some time in the first half of next year. There is a review of it here www.roadandtrack.com/article.asp?section_id=6&article_id=868 which is the US spec car and should give you an idea.

To my knowledge and from what I've seen on the road there is only one shade of yellow - a very bright one! The colour name probably changes for marketing reasonsa but the shade certainly looks very similar.

If you want a 99T version then that'll be an S1 and it will be much cheaper but you'll have to buy secondhand.

99T S1?
I suppose that you have left some things about Elise's life...

The 99T there, relates to the F1 car, not the Elise!

Cuzza said the 99 T elise would be an S1 because in the UK, in 1999, cars were registered on a T registration plate...

I know everything*. And anyway is there life after the 1998 S reg S1??

Sorry for the confusion, the 99T was for mainland Europe as it was produced in left-hand drive car only. It was a limited edition and explains the question about the paint too as it was produced in Saffron Yellow to match the colour of the F1 car not, the slightly lighter, Lightning Yellow.

I doubt you'll get one new as came out earlier this year and they've probably all been snapped up. There might be one secondhand but you'd need to look all over Europe as they could have ended up anywhere really. Your dealer would be the best place to start if you want one of them.

* That is a joke and is obviously not true

Buona sera Signore,

Come stai?

Cuzza is correct in that the 99T was indeed the F1 car, however the 99T you are refering to was a proposed 'special' edition elise. I don't think this has been produced to date, don't know of Lotus' future intentions.

There is a thread on pistonheads from february on which the model was briefly discussed. That's all I know.

Ciao, Neil

Too late with my post! Sorry Cuzza, you are indeed a fountain of knowledge

How flash are you??

We could both stand corrected as this website www.lotusdriversguide.com/ claims production is ongoing but it also claims that you can still get the Type 49, Type 25, Type 72 so how up to date it is I don't know

Miss Lucy from Lotus, that i've contacted via e-mail, told me today that i can still have a 99T for new!
At the end of the games i think that the 99T is the best color of Elise.
I've some doubt for tecnical spec: here in italy there is only a magazine that had made a complete test of both 120hp and 111S and from the test the dates are that the two cars are more similar in acceleration but i don't know why in brake test the entry level 120hp is better that the 111S with drilled disks! both were burned from a common Speedster in acceleration and in brake test instead of 100kg of disadvantage of the Vauxall.
What are the real differences between 120 or 111S? is it possible that the drilled and more expansive disks are less good than the standard?

Good news! If you like the 99T then that is basically a 111S with a different paint job and other cosmetic changes.

The differences are that the 111S has the VVC version of the K series engine which means it has the variable valve timing head on it so the 0-60 figures don't tell the whole story, it should be even more sprightly in any given gear and rev more freely. Check you magazine for the times from, say 40km/h to 80km/h or something similar. 30% more power doesn't equate to £)5 better times!!

I'm surprised about the braking differences between the two - how great is the difference? The Speedster is easier to stop as it has ABS whereas the Elise takes abit more thought - ask anyone here who's been on a 1stLotus course. The drilled disks on the 111S should prevent the brakes from fading a bit better as they will disperse heat better but fade isn't a big issue unless it lives on the track.

The 111S has a slightly more comfortable interior with better seats than the standard car - it's also more expensive and I suspect you'll pay a premium again for the 99T model.

Go back to your dealer and test drive one and if possible make it a 111S so you can see what you think, magazines are great but can make you obsessed with performance figures - try one - you'll love it!
