just been blitzing a few cars in El 'Sley including a "rude-boy" M3, when my clutch started to squeak really badly when pressing.

not worried about it, but i was going to oil it with a dab of Mobil-1 tommorrow.

good idea? over to the experts!

I presume you mean the clutch pedal squeeks?
TADTS - the dab of oil should sort it for now. Just be ready to be upside down in the footwell to reach the pivot.

There is a bush replacement kit available (better bush etc). I'm sure some of the other PHers can tell you where it comes from.

ok chaps, ive oiled everything (well seems like i have) around "the good, bad and the neccessary" (read, throttle, brake and clutch), and finally came across the bushes (if they are those little disc thingys that rotate..im SURE THEY ARE).

i gave these as much monkey gizz as possible, on the inside and out. the further pivot point was WAY out of reach.

3 questions:

1)have i done something stupid or wrong?

2)shall i grease anywhere else?

3)is El 'sley getting damaged if it continues?

cheers, gents the lot of you!

mine does exactly the same.....a quick spurt of wd 40 does the trick (for a week or 2 at least). I read somewhere it is a common problem that was solved in models late 99 onwards. Only way to stop it for good is to get the bushes changed

Hello dragdolph, I'm back. I wasn't ignoring you.

It sounds like you've oiled all the right places. The clutch pedal pivot is a swine to get to, but at least it's the lower of the two pivots that needs oiling (the pivot for the cylinder rod that goes through the bulkhead.)

Thanks for the compliments on the car photo. I made sure I took some shots after I'd finished a thorough clean for last year's Pistonfest.

If they're shiny, then they're the brake disks, so no don't grease them

Monkey gizz may contain salt, so using that may not be such a good idea

Nah, if you didn't get as far as the cable then it'll be fine - make sure you didn't get any onthe pedals or that it can't drip on them though

See if the sound goes first, if not, try an d work out where it is from - if it' behind you, it's at the other end of the cable.

Doubtful as long as the clutch isn't slipping or dragging it'll just be an annoyance - turn the stereo up!!
