Hi guys,

I'm currently thinking of swapping my Focus RS in for a different car. I'd been looking at the Exige before I purchased the Focus, and now i'm looking again (!)

Problem is, i'm 23. Has anyone on here been able to get remotely decent insurance at that age (I consider decent as anything under a grand). I have 5 years NCB and an SP30 from 4 years ago.

My current insurance company won't insure me under 25, so i'm going to have to move companies. I'm wondering if there's anyone in particular I should try?

Cheers.

I am 23 with a Exige S 240.

got 5 years NCB and 6 points.

Insured through Elephant for around £550. got a good postcode (seems to make a massive difference) and always garaged. Millage limited to 5k.

Was insured on my s1 exige when I was 20 for about £1200 from Admiral

and on the 340R over a year ago for around £1000.

Hope this helps

At 21 with Bell.co.uk I paid £1515.15 with 3 years NCB, this year at 22 with 4 yeard NCB it was down to £1020.13... so at 23 with 5 years NCB I'd expect to see it under a grand.

I shall keep looking then. Interesting.

Did any of you ring up and haggle? Or just internet quotes?

Bell, admiral and elephant are all the same, they dont tend to budge on the phone but if you get a cheaper quote from either of the 3 they will obviously match being the same company. Try adding a parent onto your policy as a named driver this usually reduces it.

I second this, always put my mother on but she is getting no where near the exige. she is dangerous enough in her Volvo s40!

I always find that they ask "whats the best price you've had??" Just lie and tell them whatever it is your willing to pay-after a few phone calls to different people it tends to get near to that price!

Worth a try?!

Not worth a try! Defrauding the insurance company...

I'm 24 living right in the middle of London with an n/a S2 Exige - £1,500 roughly from Elephant, 3 years no claims and no points.

Postcode makes a HUGE difference... if it was garaged at my parents house in Scotland it would be around £600.

When I was 23 mine was around £1200 with Elephant (1years no claims in London area). Now that I am 25 it is nearer £950.

Anyway, back on topic. It seems there are no particularly specialist insurers coming up, just might have to do a bit of haggling with the elephants...
