Elise has now become my second car as the commuting was no fun in it (surprise surprise....)
now I've got an insurance problem!
can anyone recommend a good limited mileage policy?

I'm currently using my NCB on the main car so it could get expensive....

£400 a year for 3000 miles per year from Footman James, it's a classic policy, so doesn't use NCB. It's the Club Lotus scheme, so you have top join but that's not a big deal at £15.

I recently faced the same problem and could only prove 2 years no accident record with current employer as previous employer had no records.

I had quotes all up over £900 for Social and Leisure use even with limited mileage from the main insurers and this for a not so valuable MK1. Company called Cheam insurance near Watford (I think) were the best I got at around £650 with me living out in the sticks and garaged. Cheams number's at home so I'll try to add it later.

couldnt you put your car on the same policy? (as a second car?)

my mum has got mine on her policy, as a second car, as it worked out cheaper than a new policy.

if i ever caught her driving?.....?

don't think so - I checked at the time of changing the old policy over to my new main car.

It's a good idea until you want/need to get insurance on your own and find that you have no no claims discount!

I rode through university on the back of my dad's insurance but paid the price afterwards - a false economy if you ask me.

you misunderstand young grasshopper.

i have my own insurance, but the 'rents like to be insured on all our cars (incase of an emergency, eg, if i ever needed emergency gender re-assignment), and they need to drive.

instead of making a new policy on the elise, she put it as a second car, after her X5, on her policy.

making sense now peeps?
