I had my 6 month old STI8 pinched last week. The baddies jemmied my kitchen window, got the keys (amongst other goodies) whilst the family was asleep and cleared off to Liverpool. Car being fixed, but decided that it had to go as they could come back and nick it again.

It was clearly stolen to order, only being found 'cos the to$$ers had written off 3 wheels and 4 tyres.

I'm collecting a new 111s (price £26K)on Thursday.

What should i look out for, and has any one got a hardtop 4 sale? (fat chance I guess).

I've just read a thread about the K series engine being an avid eater of headgaskets. Please tell me its rubbish..

Any advice would be gratefullyrecieved, as long as it's not rose tinted galsses induced, if you see where I am coming from

Sorry to hear that, but at least your keys were easily found so that the scumbags didn't have to threaten you or your family to get them...

The Elise seems to be less of a target to thieves than Scoobys so you can relax a little. A hard top is a good way to deter casual vandals who seem to enjoy slashing soft tops but I wouldn't worry too much about that. The hard top is basically a pain in the arse to put on/take off so you'll either find you hardly use it or you hardly get to drive top-down when it's sunny... horses for courses.

The K-Series is prone to HGF, yes. But it's virtually unheard of in the S2 Elise (except for the 135R) so as far as you're concerned "that's rubbish" - don't worry about it.

Speedster after 2 years of Subaru ownership, and seems
now an happy bunny hence, you'd be even happier too.

Just remember that you can defy the laws of physics in a scooby/evo. You can't do that in an Elise, it will bite you much earlier if you do something daft. I guess the positive side effect is that you aren't at such a ridiculous speed when physics finally puts its foot down, which seems to leave some scooby/evo drivers in deep shit.

What colour car? Might be selling my hard top if I can find a home for all the crap in my garage!

I'm getting a new car tomorrow (well sort of). Having my 111s beefed up to approx 170bhp. Just in time for the winter road conditions !!

4-2-1 manifold, link pipe, sports cat, sports exhaust and Reverie induction kit. Will generate approx 170bhp from the current 156bhp but they are rolling roading it after the work to give me the exact figures. I'll post it if you're interested.

well the results so far are that the last guys to do any work on my car left the centre under tray off. my local HR Owen (the guilty party) are also no longer there so who the bloody hell am I supposed to whinge at?

Still waiting for my modified car to come back..........

I know someone with that setup on their S2111S and it made 162bhp on the rollers ...its quite difficult to get much more just with bolt ons with the std ECU. The same engine in an S1 was indeed 143bhp...but with similar boltons would reach 155-60bhp. Lotus changed ECUs with the S2 and managed to get 156bhp out of the std engine with just a remap.

Always get your car on the rollers at a different place to where you buy the bits from ! its very easy to inflate figures just by adjusting things like tyre pressures etc

i have the car back now and have done about 80miles in it already. The new bits certainly make a difference but because the work wasn't finished until late it didn't get to go on the RR. i'll be doing that myself in a few weeks time. whatever the increase, my car has been transformed. not sure i like the sound so much, but the performance is definately to my liking.
