Hi guys,
Im kinda new to the Elise, (S2) but wondered if anyone has had problems with "stiff steering".
I test drove the car and it felt ok, but when i collected it and read through the info it had the comment "steering a bit stiff" on the PDI.

The car has done 10000 miles and there is a definite squeaking noise when turning the wheel. and there is a definite lack of "return to centre" when exiting corners.(Tyre pressures are spot on)

Any ideas where the resistance may be??
I have driven another car similair spec and it has definitely got better steering.

I have reported it to the dealer and they reckon its fine. But its not. Any thoughts welcome so next time it goes back to the dealer I am well armed.

Thanks, Dave

Get the geo checked as if this is out it will affect the handling and acerman affect on the steering (self centering).

The squeeking might be the rubber gromit where the steering shaft goes through the bulkhead a squirt of rubber and silicon spray should sort that.

Self centering is normally handled by the castor. This is a bugger to adjust though on the Elise and requires spacers. Its also not always possible to sort since there's only so much potential for adjustment.

If you bought from a garage I guess you should tell them you aren't happy. If they deny it, maybe get a 3rd party report etc?

Cheers for the thoughts, I have told the garage that I am not happy with it and they have a week to fix it as I am off out of the country for a bit.
