whooo!! just bought a 111s with the sprint conver

hi all,
i just returned from a trek up to ponteland to get my elise, its a t(99) silver 111s with a bell and colvil sprint 170 engine conversion and lotus sport handling kit, after the 220mile journey home, i am very impressed. got a few little problems to sort out on it though.

1. boot/bonnet release not working properly, it will release the catch but when you come to close it it does not secure it properly.

2. passenger window falls down if you try to wind it down.

3. stone chip in one of the headlamp covers.

still one of the bonuses of living in spalding is that i have got kelvedon lotus just down the road from me so will pop in there on monday and book it in for a service and to get those bits sorted out.

i haven't stopped grinning yet....

congratulations on the purchase mate, hope you have lots of fun in it!!

in relation to your problems:

1)not sure whats happening here. maybe give it a little wiggle (the cover...from side to side). it shouldnt be a problem for the dealer to sort out!!

2)THIS IS A BIG PROBLEM. the glue that holds on the clips has come away, meaning that they have to be re-glued. this is due to the window-runners holding the glass up while the mechanism comes down.

bad news is, the dealers dont have a clue about what to do. i spoke to about 4, and the responses ranged from...

(a) dont know what your on about
(b) you need a new window mate
(c) it can be glued but it will cost £135+ vat

so i found a specialist who did it for £20. (lotus specialist). i suggest you do the same.

if you bought from a dealer then id tell them to sort it, as it is a pain the behind

3) try www.eliseparts.com for a replacement set.
