Hi - now I'm in the South, I quite fancy getting a dealer stamp in the handbook for my S2's 1 yearish service.

I'd like to make a day of it & maybe get a factory tour / few laps of Hethel.

Is this possible? Has anybody done it before?

I've had a factory service before, but I'll warn you it isn't cheap!

I'm sure you'll be able to book a factory tour if you arrange it in advance when you know when your service is. As for a few laps of the circuit... in your own car, not a chance. As a pax with a Lotus employee, vague chance if you're a great blagger and your timing is right / they're not using the track for anything else.

I had a service, new tyres and a new interior fitted at the factory. Not only did I find it expensive but I was without my car for about 6 weeks! Also without phone calls to them every day I'm sure it would have been longer. Oh and on the Friday before I picked it up they noticed that the had forgotten the MoT!!! I was left unimpressed by the service but the work that was done was to a high standard.

Jees - so even the factory gives crappy customer service. I'm starting to wonder if there's a point - seemingly no decent dealers, the approved "Esteem" insturers are a bunch of lying idiots and now the factory is rubbish too which I kinda guessed having just received my certificate for the driver training today. The driver training that I did back at the beginning of July. Hmm, me thinks I'll soon be an ex Elise owner...

Wilson's have always been very accomodating to me, including picking my car up etc.

Agree - Wilsons Lotus are one of the better dealers, never had any probs. Their servicing price list on the Elise is same as a specialist...its just the £85 an hour labour rate for other work that forces you to go elsewhere for other stuff. Last time my car was in for a service there it came backwith all the warranty stuff done without me even asking !

Hmm, where are these dealers. I'm based near Leicester and so am already driving to either Derby or Northampton (though I don't think I'll be going there again!). I've not tried Nick Whale in Birmingham yet who are meant to be good.
