Anyone out there had any experiance using aviation fuel in the Elise. What kind of results did you acheive and were there any lingering effects after switching back to the pump! Going to a track day in Malaysia, some of the blokes use it in their buggies for weekend rally runs in the carparks here, claim power boost and no after effects. Should be a fun weekend after track day on Saturday

theres no knock sensor on the K series so no benefit in running higher octane fuel whatsoever

Only experience I have had is running it in bike race engines where we used it to stop the combustion chamber melting - basically it gave a better reliability by running a bit cooler and were able run the timing a bit on the hairy side.

So you may get some benefit if you were able to remap the engine - but its a lot of messing around and very expensive when you get it wrong (I have a large collection of melted pistons in the garage).

As one of my friends said - just have a pi55 before you get on it ! - hate to say it but in hindsight he was right.

(a change in compression ratios plus av gas would give more power but then the £per bhp gained would be better spent elsewhere)

Avgas has a higher RON number 120-140. BP100 racing fuel has 100. Higher octane petrol + the usual, cams, compression and timing- to suit the higher octane fuel would be beneficial... no other benefit to avgas- also avagas may be detrimental to your CAT converter if still fitted... most avgas is leaded.
