I'll probably let my 99 S1 135 go for around that. 19k miles, mint, Norfolk Mustard (very rare in a 135), Nakamichi stereo, leather etc.

i think you may struggle to sell your car privately, and so MAYBE it would be better to do a part-ex, rather than a private buy and then sale.

remember if your car is on the market for 2 weeks+ then the price will take a huge dive.

test drive as many as you can to find the right model for you. when you do get one, (after test-driving you will), be careful in the wet and responsible in the dry.

as you say your car is slightly modified, and so may i make a presumption?

if your a max-head, dont drive like a twat in an elise..its a sports car that will bite you and easily bite others. also "max" related issues, opinions etc arent really tolerated here (i personally dont mind that much) but others may shoot you down.

if your not a max-head, then i apologize.

Oh, and if your private registration is S4XOD, I suggest you don't transfer it to the Elise.

The classifieds on this board and on www.seloc.org should provide you with plenty to go at and they'll tend to be more cared for examples (there's some real cr@p around). Get it inspected to check for crash damage - that's the most important thing as they don't rebuild easily or cheaply after a shunt.

To get rid of the Saxo, put it on Autotrader and free-ads type papers - the chances of getting a private part ex for it are non existent and you could pay a 2k premium if you go through a dealer.

Sod it I'll give you 20% more.. I'll give you £600. I could do with upgrading the VTR.

Hang on.. lets get this straight.. you have a 2001 Saxo VTS which when new would have cost £12,000, and now has a Trade in value of between £4,000 and £5,500... and you're willing to part with it for six hundred quid..

..have you crashed it or is it stolen..

Matt.

Saxo guy, I had a VTR that I just part-exed for an 'X' reg Elise, and I had a nightmare getting rid of it.
The dealer and I rang around and we scraped just over six for it.
The dealer I bought the Saxo from didn't want to know because they had loads of leftover Saxo's and he said new they were now £8,500.
Basically if you can spare time then sell it privately, because otherwise you will get literally pennies for it. I know. Then again once I had a drive around Richmond park in the Elise I didn't care what the Saxo made anyway.
Enjoy the Elise, because it is one brilliant car.

And my Saxo was an '03 VTR with the safety pack as well that had 3,500 miles on it.

Ouch.

Isn't the VTR one of the cars people buy for the free insurance though? Imagine that would hurt residuals as all the poor bastards realise they can't afford year 2 and have to sell.

When I got mine it was free insurance and VAT on the whole range, I think that they've had their money from the Saxo and just want to get the C3 shifting.

But honestly you won't look back when you jump in the drivers eat of the Elise

I let the dealer have mine, I know I took a big hit on the VTR but by the time you pay for half decent ad's and the inevitable haggling then I probably wasn't more than a few quid worse anyway and the whole process was a lot quicker as well.
