Morning all, it would appear my elise has become totally invisible to other road users.

I have tried to draw attention to this fact, but it would appear the horn has lost its voice!

Can anyone:
a) Tell me where to find it, and trace the connections.
b) Suggest where I may look on t'internet for help.

Please do not post a link to the workshop manual as this will no doubt annoy bonce and the crew.

But a little latteral thinking wouldn't go amiss

It doesn't appear to be on the B-K website any longer!

In the meantime I'll continue searching

Cheers Neil

Hi Neil

S1 is it? There's a bit about upgrading the horn here: www.elises.co.uk/components/s1/horn/ but not much help really. The horn itself is located beside the crash box below the radiator on the drivers side. You may be able to get to it through the front bonnet by removing the plastic radiator surround, or you may be able to get to it through the wheel arch if you pull the liner to one side.

It has it's own 7.5A fuse, which is in slot 10 in the fuse box. Try swapping it with the 7.5A fuse in slot 6 which is the turn indicators. The horn also has a relay situated in the fuse box, relay A.

Good luck!

Darn it, things could be completely different in the S2 (even the fuses so don't start fiddling unless you're sure) so I have no idea, sorry.

OK then, the story so far

Still haven't located the horn itself, have, however checked fuses and swapped the relays over all to no avail!

Just gives a clunk from around that area when the horn is pressed. I may be wrong but this suggests that the electrical side of things is ok. How is the horn itself powered? ie how is the noise made. The clunk sounds like a solenoid valve opening and closing.

Any ideas?

PS

Bonce,

The fuses and relays are the same, at least in this instance, slot 10 7.5A fuse, slot A relay.

Heaven forbid you should ever give out bad advice!

Nope, I've put her back together now.

Will give the thread a chance before I book it in @ £70 an hour!

Yup, that sounds like some power is getting through.

I'm not absolutely definite about this, but I reckon access is via the front undertray (easy if you don't have the original steel screws ) - you'll probably find the connection has worked loose, if not the horn is the same sort of clunky thing that would appear on a Morris Minor so any old parts shop should be able to sell you something similar.
