just wanted to know where the "elise" name came from??

and also what would everybody call it if they had to name it??

mine would be the lotus PW...pant wetter after my first experience.

wasn't it named for one of the design teams granddaughter?

At the time the Elise was launched, Lotus Cars were owned by Romano Artoili who also owned Bugatti. To celebrate the first new model to come off the line under this ownership the car was named after Romano's granddaughter.

Isn't there some kind of tradition where all Lotus cars are named beginning with an E - Esprit, Elan, Excel etc (thats' not a Lotus by the way).
