Hi - I am a very happy Elise owner. I am now looking at the Exige. I notice most of them have ABS. Do I really want that? :S

Thanks!

If you go for the S2 Exige you don't get a choice as all of the Toyota engined cars have ABS.

I find the ABS rather good. with Mintex 1144 pads i can break harder and it doesnt kick in until just avter the fronts lock up.. hard to describe what with me not being a pro driver/engineer but once I upgraded the pads the braking was realy good but the ABS is there if you panic and just stamp on the brakes.

it comes in very late - and by that stage of the game I'm pleased it's there...

And of course with ABS you can keep directional control under heavy (i.e. panic) braking, which is its best point.

I like having un-servoed un-interfered-with brakes, but I wouldn't kick an ABS equiped car out of bed.

The thing I don't like about the ABS is that when it does kick in there is a lack of feel in the brake pedal, even with the Mintex pads.
Of course it depends on your personal driving style and preferences.
It would be good to make it switchable.

I find the ABS to be a bit unsettling in as much that you have braking, followed by a bit of ABS, then sod all! On my day with Walshy he did emphasise the need to back off when the ABS kicked in though. Must go practice somewhere.
