Hi again,

I've already asked this previously but just wanted a bit more feedback.

I own an S2 with the K series engine, the 111S

In addition to the general issues you all told me about previously with the gear box being one of the weaker points of the Elise S2 (k series) I was wondering if my clutch might be part of my problem.

It's not dragging as such but I do seem to have to depress the clutch further than when I got the car to change gear. There isn't much travel left from fully depressed until the clutch engages the engine.

I'd say there's now more travel above the pedal than below, if that makes sense. Are we thinking it might be wearing out? The car has only done 17,500 miles but I drive it quite hard at weekends ;-)

Generally speaking it becomes harder to find the gear smoothly as the engine gets hotter and I've been stop starting in traffic or lots of short runs.

try getting the clutch blead as well, they are not that easy to get right and are a PITA when there is air in them...

Does the S2 suffer from the "red clutch hose" problems like the S1?

What you describe sounds similar to mine and by all accounts it's the hose that need replacing (braided).

clutch pivot fork may also be a factor, they get stuck from time to time like mine did

As Simon has said - not the hose on the S2, but if you have even a tiny amount of air in the clutch system, it is a real PITA and may make gear selection difficult or impossible (as if you had no clutch) as the clutch will not fully disengage when the clutch pedal is pushed. I had this problem after getting ambitious and bleeding the clutch.

I have never attempted a clutch bleed since.
