Hi guys

After the run to Hethel, to the factory, and a lot of persuasion from my daughter, I am now planning on selling my M100 for an S1 Elise.

Can anyone tell me what I should be looking for, different models, engines etc.

We've found one on the forum http://pistonheads.com/sales/674703.htm Think we might be going to see it on Sunday.

Thanks for the help and advice!

Stu

no engine bay pics I see, also no mention of shocks, steering rack etc being replaced.

high miles too, so i would want to see all invoices for the work carried out on it.

This one is worth a look, I should know as I owned it up until 2 years ago and was very tempted to go and see the old girl, but if i did i knew i would want to buy it back!

also it's only done 3,000 miles since i sold it and then it had full main dealer history with all invoices/ mot's from new. very tidy car but to sell it he has got to move quite a bit on his price yikes
The first one is also £3k cheaper, allowing you to fix any of that stuff if it needed doing.

I like the blue one, looks like a nice car. Mileage doesn't scare me, and with elises less so to be honest. Things do break, and you need to fix them, so to make it to 80k, it must have been looked after!

I would also want proof of parts/service and not just rubber stamps.

This was sent to me, from the guy, via email.

"It's the basic 1.8 K series but with a hurricane, 52mm TB and Lotus Sport
exhaust (Janspeed I think).

Services:
After sales - 1021 miles
A Service 8233 miles
A Service - 14594 miles
B Service - 21535 miles
A Service 28535 miles
A Service 37973 miles
C Service 37973 miles (At same time by same dealer)
A Service 48401
A Service 56195
B Service 61008
A Service 69339

Oil & Filter change by myself 1500 miles ago (Mobil1). Due an A service to
keep the book full.

Oh, forgot to mention, it has short throw gear lever, new Eliseparts gear
linkage bushes, Eliseparts clutch cylinder steady bar, new alternator &
belts, new disks, pads, carbon leather sill pads and carbon dash trim, the
full original interior (S1 magnolia leather seats and sill pads - worn), a
new shower cape/cover thing, the original hood (stitching gone though) and a
stick of Lotus touch up paint that I've never dared use."

Alot of info that he just forgot to mention. If the car does come with ALL reciepts then go for it.

That's a well known car on SELOC, may be Paul Parkinson, but don't quote me on that. I do believe he has done a lot to it, it is good looking car with a few nice additions. All the other stuff mentioned is easy DIY, looks good. Good price too.

Had a proper read of the add, that is a bargain, big time. S2 shocks, new stuff, 111S if not S2 seats, new wheels, etc etc, snap it up if I were you!

If its HPI clear. I think that has to be a bargain. You could spend another £3000 sorting anytihng (if anything actually needs doing) and still have a cheap car.

He says "pre 2001 so not effected by road tax increases"... wouldn't it be cheaper if it was post-2001?

Not sure, how much is a post 2001 car per year? My 99 is £185 I think.

My 111S renewal has just come through the post - £145.

Billy bargain.

Shame the Jag is 38 thousand pounds to tax next year.

As I said over on Seloc, that car looks a good buy - I'd have thought £9k would be asked in a better economic climate. That'll make a nice daily drive/weekend car and occasional track toy. About the only thing I can think of that may need doing are the suspension bushes and a general freshen up in that dept but that's the case on most S1s on the market. Not a difficult diy job apparantly (I'll find out soon enough!).

Thanks for the info guys. Getting pics of the engine bay later on tonight, and going to look at it on Sunday.

It belongs to a guy who is well known on the SELOC site, GaryB.

Don't hang about. I don't think it'll be on the market long at that price.
