....to Lotus ownership. Sadly i've decided to sell the 111S and for the forseeable future, will be without a Lotus in my life.

On the positive side, i've now got my baby boy to give me joy in my life instead. He has to come first and as much as i've tried to justify having both its the Elise that has to go. (you can't get much for a 6 month old baby on eBay these days lol) <joke in case anyone wondered!>

If anyone fancies a semi-famous Elise (it's been on Top Gear!) it is advertised on PH. It's been a good car to me and I only wish I was getting enough use to warrant keeping her. But the odd Sunday afternoon blast on my own isn't enough, i'd rather spend that time with my wife-to-be and son.

Looked at an Evora but budget restricts that option - and besides, I really don't think the 2+2 arrangement is a viable alternative to a proper 5-door Eurobox design for ferrying a baby and his paraphenalia around all the time. We struggle getting his stuff in the back of my missus' Megane hatch!

So i'll be on the forums only as an ocassional browser in the very near future. I'll miss sharing "whats-gone-wrong-this-week" stories etc with you all. Although I won't miss the bills!!!

Bon Voyage - as you've said wife and kid must come first. I'm considering doing the same very soon but am still in the 'I can still justify it' phase of letting it go. So I have some idea of how you are feeling.

If I do let mine go for something more sensible I fully intend to replace it with another far cheaper toy, MK1 Mx5 (or similar) in my case, just to keep me sane. Might be an option for you too??

sorry to hear you are selling mate as we both bought our first lotus at the same time.

Fully understand where you are coming from though as that is why i sold my first Lotus although i realised quite soon after it was a mistake to be without one and bought another then sold that bought another then sold that and finally have one that i intend to keep.smile

You will be back in 12 months cos as they get older kids need less with them when you travel and you will soon be thinking a boot is a waste of spsce and calculating what you can get into an Elise/Exige.

If you ever feel the urge to drive a Lotus feel free to drop me a line.

good luck with the sale mate. Mine has been on the market for 3 weeks or so and have had surprisingly little interest and yet I didn't think the price was unrealistic. Interestingly I am getting quite a few offers of px against heavy drinking sports cars and yet the advert doesnt invite px offers! Sign of the times perhaps...

Thanks mate, i've always felt a bit of a connection with you too - but I never felt quite the same urge to change so often LOL!

Good luck & enjoy the time with your boy. In 2 years you'll be flicking through EVO pointing at Elises and telling him all about bonded aluminium chassis.

Dont tell the wife to be about that connection thing, they can get quite possessive and violent especially just after motherhood.biggrin

PS
From one Dad to another, dont let your son have the MMR jab. I know this may open a can of worms on here but from experience pay for the three separate jabs. I give this advice to everyone i know with youngsters approaching MMR jab age. I have first hand experience of what can go wrong despite what the so called experts say and deny.

Best of luck Zebede.
Funny, I got my Elise after my second daughter came along: I used to have a small racing yacht but after No1 daughter was born it sat in the Marina for nearly a year with just a few hours use so I sold it. When daughter No2 came along I realised I needed a bigger car than the A3 I had so we sold the missus old Golf, I gave her the A3 and I bought myself a shiny new X-Type Estate. Eight months later I didn't need the Estate any more (its the first six months or so with littl'uns that are the worst in terms of kit) so I swopped it for the Elise and cash and used the cash to buy an MG ZT. I edventually sold the ZT too as that was just gathering dust!
Anyway, I know where you're coming from - isn't being a Dad greatthumbup

Thanks everyone for your messages, I will certainly miss this place. The community that i've found with Lotus ownership is a great one, and I doubt there's another one like it for any other make. Let's face it - only a true devotee of the brand would put up with the problems with them!
