I can't turn it off

I pulled into a petrol station on Boxing Day, turned the ignition off but the engine kept running. After a lot of head scratching I gave up a contacted Storm of Leicester to ask for help. Solution: Cigarette lighter fault! If the +ve and -ve connections are around the wrong way and the headlights are on then a feedback situation can occur and the engine keeps running. I was using the cig socket for the mobile phone charger and sure enough it always happens when I have my phone on charge. Unfortunately, mine is wired correct but at least I know why and also how to avoid it. It should be:- RED - BULB Purple - Center Connection Black - Outer Connector.
