They do recommend a hundred miles or so to let all the moving surfaces and seals bed in. But knocking generally means you've got air in the damper, and that isn't going to go away on its own. I'd give them the benefit of the doubt for a hundred miles or so and then get back to them a little more forcefully if there's still a problem.
