bugger.
head gasket has gone, just when I was thinking about selling the car.

which really leaves me with two options...
get it fixed and sell (needs MoT as well)
or - fix it (plus a few mods) and run it over the winter.

the only issues are - my 65 mile (each way) commute to my main place of work is mainly motorway, and it's not the best Mway car.
I suspect that when the roads have been gritted then the stone chips are going to make the front of the car look like one of Saddam Hussein's palaces.... full of holes!
what I really need is someone (like Bonce) to convince me that running an Elise through the winter is s sensible thing to do.....

a few mods.....

VVC head and inlet system (already in my possession), maybe a sport cat and stainless exhaust if I can get one cheap through a supplier, aftermarket ECU with suitable cal....
maybe throttle bodies in the future....

I'm beginning to be tempted.....

Get it rebuilt by Dave Andrews! go on!

Either that or ditch it because I agree its not an ideal winter car.

Why not see what its going to cost to get back on the raod. If its a lot theres a lot to be said for keeping it & enjoying it rather than resenting the cost.

Agreed, it's not an ideal winter car, but then no nice car that you want to look after is. So you could stop commuting for the winter, or you could buy a nail to drive the salty roads - but why drive an old banger when you can sit in a fine sports car?

Get it fixed and keep it. How else can you match the feeling of driving to work on a glorious sunny december morning with the roof off?
