Front indicators - warranty fix
Discussion
All
Dropped my Elise in on Friday to have the door striker pins done (thanks to Pat at B&C who got this through as a warranty item despite tha car being out of the Lotus warranty).
Came back on Saturday to pick up the car to find the door striker pins done and also the front indicators replaced as the factory now apparently has a fix for the issue that has affected some people.
I thought I'd pass on the good news to those who have been afflicted. Have a friendly word in your dealer's ear and see if you can get things sorted.

(currently enojoying the lack of door knocking noise)

Nothing wrong with my indicators but they were replaced anyway.
Some S2's have been afflicted by front indicators falling out. If this happens on the motorway (or other area when you might be making progress) for example you have this little bit of plastic attached by wiring flying in the wind and making interesting patterns in the paintwork of your car as it flips in and out of the airstream. Can mean a clam respray job and hence an expensive warranty claim for Lotus (or you if out of warranty). The original "fix" was simply to tie a know in the wiring to mean the light could hardly move if it became attached. I'm told that the new solution addresses the issue of actually stopping the light coming out in the first place.

...maybe 'let' it happen again whilst it's just in warranty for a free front respray!!
Lucky man, maybe not such a bad option if you happen to pick up stone chips like I do For those of us out of the official warranty period a little bit of help before the necessary respary is a good thing.
