You should probably consider whether they are too rare to be just a track car.

Certain parts can be hard to acquire if you damage it.

Would a stripped out, higher power Elise not make more sense???

Pound for pound... a honda powered S1 is going to be a more reliable track day weapon and probably cheaper to run too.

However, if you have to buy a 340R (and after a quick blat in one last year I have those feelings every now and again) then go for it.

Someone who knows their stuff will be along soon, but the first thing to bear in mind is the VHPD K Series. Many suggest they need regular overhauls (maybe every 10k). Trouble is most 340Rs seem to live as garage queens and do little milage, so the first thing you might end up doing is packing it off to your local specialist for them to give you a nice hefty bill.

Had mine new back in 2000, graet cars, make sure all the many updated were conducted (rear mud guards, roleover bar paint, ECU)full 190 upgrade is good, but forget heavily modified cars, they'll be worthless in the years to come.
