Hi,
I'm tinking of moving to Lotus for a while, I had a Noble M400 which I loved but had to sell, I currently drive a manual F430 but it doesen't have the same fun per mile ratio of the Noble.
So after driving a Exige S 240 I'm a little more interested in the marque.
Does anyone know anything about a limited run of the Lotus exige Cadena?
Lotus seem to have quite a few "limited editions" so any feedback is greatly appreciated (good or bad)
Also any suggestions of what models/editions are better/more desirable than others etc.

most are just paint jobs - power outputs go 190, 220, 240, 255, obviously more being better wink

however if buying used personally im not a new buyer - usually 3 years old is better with more VFM so Id get a 190 early car and mod it...there are a few suppliers in the uk that will supercharge (and intercool)to 270bhp, and the cost for a few yr old 190 car + SC kit will be a lot less than a new £40K + car

thats just me though, obviously if you fancy a factory car with some limited edition paint job its up to you smile

The Cadena car is a bit more than just a paint job, it has all the bits on it, AP racing 4pot barkes, Braided Hoses, LSD (Standard S or power upgraded option) 2 way adjustable Ohlins suspension, Race Seats and 4 point harnesses. Extra twin oil coolers.

Basically everything you would want to add as an extra that is expensive to retro fit. But I guess that all comes down to if you like the colour. If not you could spec everything on a new car in the colour of your choice. even your very own paint job.

I think I'd go for a 240R if you can get one. Given the Cadena car's racing pedigree I reckon I'd be embarrassed to be seen in one!biggrin

I'm a bit biased (just bought no. 003) but they are a good spec - just make sure it has the GT pack.

It sure is a well specced factory car for £42K new ...I guess it depends if its definately a new car that you want. Personally I like modding a car to suit me,and I hate depreciation wink so Id spend £25K on a used, well sorted 320bhp SC Honda Engined Elise ...just like my old one smile

If coming from a Noble M400 or F430 you are gonna need an SC Honda or Audi engined Elise/Exige if you want the similar performance im afraid ..and with a £40K budget ...well...you could have a 700kg/350bhp Elise/Exige race car built to spec for that smile

Ouch! (funny though!)

did not realise untill I looked at that link that they were only 240R spec engines, and cost £43K...

OK! now I'm getting a little more interested 350 BHP I assume that's supercharged?
I knew there were Honda and Audi conversions out there, where is the best place to look for these (I'm not looking for a raced to death stter either)?

For under 40k you could pretty much have your own S/C Honda (or Turbo Audi) Exige made to order. Basically you'll buy an S2 Elise, do the engine transplant stuff and then add an S2 Exige body. Job's a carrot! smile

what he said, go talk to Maidstone (http://www.maidstonesportscars.co.uk/contactUs.asp), they have an S2 Exige bodied 350+Bhp demo car

However any more suggestions (keep it clean) are more than welcome.

not really, except take a valium beforehand before Andy takes you out for a test drive in the demo wink

seriously, with that budget you could get a pre-modified Elise/Exige and then just finish it to your choice, or buy whichever Rover engined Elise/Exige you like from recent years and then drop the Honda in there.

MSC will advise on other stuff too, but as a minimum you will want the brakes and suspension sorting

have fun shopping smile ..you will be able to have something with the performance of your previous cars, but with £100 oil change services, and £500 a set of tyres etc so a lot more useable than a 430 wink
