Knackered Boot Release - Getting the Boot Open (S1)

A couple of months back my release cable snapped. I fitted an electric boot opener (Eliseparts) and it's been OK.

Saturday morning, I was heading for the Cholmondley Pageant of Power. I went to open the boot but just heard a whirring noise and bugger all else. I managed to get a hand in to pull the shower cap and my tickets out but I had to leave the roof in there. As Sod's Law dictates, it fecking pissed it down!

So - how do I get the bar-steward open again to fix it?

Panic over - the cable originally snapped about an inch and a half from the handle. The remaining cable is still there. I managed to grab the cable from behind the wheel-arch liner and give it a tug to pop the boot open.
