Really does hammer home how poor the series has now become. The features they used to have "in the old days" seemed so much more natural.

Just watched one from 2003 (i think), it was the episode with Richard Whitely, track day feature and the VX220.

How or why i have never owned a VX220 i will never know especially considering i get huge discount on Vauxhalls and have owned virtually every other model. I do remember trying to get in one once and couldnt actually manage it so perhaps that put me off. I was actually at my physical peak then and nowhere near as lardy as now.

The VX that they reviewed was absolutely stunning. They compared it to an Elise of the day and said the Elise was £33k new, surely that cant be right ?? In the opinion of JC the VX was better.

Anyway, im rambling again. Probably because it is Tuesday and Dave apart the telly is crap.

I just watched that. He said the VX220 Turbo was very fast and posted a 1:31 round a dry track. The Exige S2 did 1:26 in the damp!! I guess it goes to show how much grip the Exige tyres/suspension are responsible for.

Not sure as didn't see the whole thing, but it makes sense as the Elise and VX220 were both 53 plate I think.

your not wrong...

the ideas were much more orriginal back then, problem now is the format is stale, there are only so many car races you can do, caravans you can blow up, guests the public actually know, etc etc...

they need to re-invent top gear - into what I have no idea!

Possibly a programme about cars, rather than the presenters ?

Yes agree 100% Top Gear is rubbish and to be honest I'm getting fed up with watching it, why they don't just start showing at least 5 car's each show I don't know

Don't get me wrong I'm all for the presenters having a laugh but show some bloody metal! Roll on fifth Gear at least they show car's even if they are all tossers

Bear in mind that the Exige was driven by 'new' White Stig (widely regarded to be quicker than the old Black Stig...)

Simple solution:

Bring back Noel Edmonds,

and Mr Blobby and the Gunge Tank.
