Hi,
I'm thinking of entering Elise ownership and have noticed a few S2 Exige's popping below 20k and getting close to my buget. Does anyone run an Exige as a daily driver? Any thoughts/comments/feedback???

Thanks in advance.

I run a S2 elise as a second car - its fantastic but ride can be a little rough on bad roads, never driven an exige but I'd imagine being stiffer sprung the ride would be more harsh. So the answer to your question is it depends on what sort of roads you'll be using it on each day and what level of discomfort you are willing to put up with. My advice would be to test drive both on roads similar to the ones you use each day and then take your pick - both are awesome cars.

I drive mine everyday, although this may change in the winter, and it is perfectly fine. I find it even more comfortable than the Elises that i have had.

my recently acquired S2 Exige is now my daily driver through the streets of london town, into the heart of mayfair...i find it better in such conditions than my 911...altho the lack of rear view, meant i had to get some of those sticky on blind spot mirrors put on from halfords.

I absol love my journey to and from work now with my new toy and the addition of my friend Larini has also enhanced my commute

Generally no problem but if doing longish motorway trips over the winter I would recommend changing the AO48's for something with more tread for the winter months.

My S2 Elise is a DD, absolutely no problems apart from leaky softtop (which you'll avoid with an Exige. Getting in and out are a pain, especially in a narrow parking space/garage but worth the hassle.

I run my Exige S as a DD car with no problems so far. I will be looking for different tyres for winter though. A048 tyres seem to be a lot better in the wet than the minimal tread would suggest.

Do it - actually very practical, and I find mine very comfortable on long journeys. That being said, if you sell baguettes door to door, this car may not be for you! biggrin

How practical are Exige's? Any pics or storage areas?

They are no less practical than an Elise, so to speak.

The only thing to be warey of is the running costs - especially tyres. As Davey above said, you may like to invest in some road tyres for during the winter, for the extended life as well as the better water clearing.

But other than that I used an Elise everyday for 2 yrs and it was fine thumbup

Pics of storage areas? How do you mean?

"How big is the front boot" is what I mean. Do they have any rear storage also - I remember someone grabbing something from the back of their elise s1 once, is there a shelf there or something similar? Nothing behind the engine I assume?

no front boot. it's a rear boot, under the one piece engine / boot lid. The access is slightly narrow (but wide enough for a standars helmen in helmet bag, most squashy sportsbags)but actually holds plenty of luggage given it wraps round the enine and over the wheels. pictures? 'fraid not

Ah sorry I see what you mean. As said, there is no front boot at all - it's purely your feet and a radiator that are there!

The boot is behind the engine. The access to it isn't massive but it's a big area - I've been camping in my elise with a passenger to give you an idea!

ok, good to know, thanks chaps. I wouldn't need a lot of space, I'd have one as a track/fun car if anything in future.

Cheers.
